How to get rid of frizzy curly hair?

Are you struggling with frizzy curly hair that seems like it will not hold it's curl definition? You are not alone. Curly hair comes in all textures, lengths, densities, types and while these matter these is one thing that alot of people tend to forget about and that is strand texture.

What is strand texture?

My client in the videos hair is prone to frizz. She wants to wear a wash and go. Just because the curls are loose it doesn’t mean the texture of the strands are silky. And just because the strands are silky it doesn’t mean the curls are loose. Typically the “easier” to curl hair has silkier texture, not because the curls are loose. The client in the video has loose curls but kinky textured strands which is what makes it difficult for some to define and get the frizz under control!

How do I calm my frizzy hair?

  1. Starting on clean wet hair. Her hair was wet from the shampoo bowl. It doesn’t look like it because, well, low porosity and kinky strands!
  2. Spray moisture all over the hair. In the spray bottle I have fruit cocktail detangling spray.
  3. Section hair. This is important because you need to work in small sections in order to get product evenly distributed. The more hair the more sections. I always use no less than 5 sections when defining curls. On this client I used 7.
  4. Using the shingling method start applying curl defining gel. The product being applied to tame the frizz and define her curls is mango butter curling jellie!
  5. Dry the hair and set the product. Too many people make the mistake of air drying their hair. The product need to be set in place immediately to lock the definition in. Never go to bed with wet hair.
