How to: Two Strand Twists

I’m very passionate about ALL that I do! Natural hair is definitely my passion and as a natural hair stylist I get to work with different clients everyday here at my curly hair salon in Houston, Tx. I always get tons of questions like "how to two strand twist" fine hair what twisting products do I use to twist fine hair." Some people 2 strand twists look a lot thicker than it really is. When you don’t understand hair density and strand thickness you can easily be treating curls wrong and not get the results you are in search of.

The client in the video has low/medium density, high porosity, 3chair, thin and kinky strands. The kinky strands throw people off because some instantly see the afro-affect and automatically assume it’s thick. Because she has medium/low density I’m twisting using foam. Macadamia oil styling foam is lightweight and doesn’t weigh down her hair giving twists the appearance of fullness! Using products to light or not heavy enough will end up in styling frustration.

Remember product choosing is only PART of the battle. You must know how to use them. Products don’t do all of the work for you. I say this all the time: just like you don’t buy a pair of Jordans expecting to automatically play ball like Jordan, don’t buy products automatically thinking they will do all of the work.

I provide tons of tips and tricks on this very page to give you an idea of where to stay. As you should be able to tell from all of my posts all of the products play well together. However, I like some better together depending on the hair in front of me.

Products recommendations:

  1. Creme de la curls moisturizer all over.
  2. Fruit cocktail hydrating leave in conditioner spray to rewet.
  3. Macadamia oil styling foam to twist.
